You might pray something like this: “Lord, Glorious Father, I thank you that __________ is in my life. Give ________ spiritual wisdom and insight that they might grow in their knowledge of You. Flood their heart with Your light. Help them to know the confident hope You’ve given to Your children. Help ________ to understand the incredible greatness of Your power, the power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, the resurrection power available to all who believe…”
Pray these things for yourself as well. Pray today for those you’ll be sharing heaven with tomorrow. Prayer changes everything.

Thank you, Mary, for your suggestion. I was reading this passage as a prayer for myself. Now I see it as a model prayer I can pray often for others.
Another thing struck me - verses 19-22 show the fullness of authority granted to Jesus by God the Father. I recall Jesus' wilderness temptation in Luke 4:5-7. Satan offered authority which was not his to give. Satan was, and still is, a liar. The world is under his control (1 John 5:19) but it's only temporary.
Thank you to both of you for your insights! Mary, I appreciate the encouragement to use Scripture as an outline for powerful prayer. And, Deetje, I am so often blessed by your sweet spirit and your perspective on the Word of God. I never quite put it together that not only was Satan's offer an ineffective quick-fix plan, but that it was an offer he didn't really have authority to make. Satan is a liar, and that's a critical truth for us to remember day by day.
